999.999.999 is an animation short film made by Gerald Grunow. Gerald approached me in the summer of 2011 to score his final project as a student, and after seeing a couple of sketches, I was totally up for it.
This love story set in a dystopian future Munich has been traveling around the world, winning various awards (most notably a honorable mention at the LA Movie Awards and "Best Animation Film 2012" at tech DaVinci Film Festival).
We wanted to underline the most important moments in the narrative with a simple, short, and powerful statement- a theme that first plays rather shyly as the character falls in love with his dream girl in the beginning, but that also has the hidden strength to erupt at the climax of the story. I won't spoil anymore of the plot for you though!
I loved working on this project because Gerrie and I were extremely on the same page regarding the aesthetic of the music, and the moments where the narrative needed it.
